Quality You Can Count On!

California Safety Company has been doing business locally for 47 years and it has always been our mission to try and eliminate false alarms completely. This is why California Safety Company doesn't install bargain systems with mediocre coverage. When we install a system, we make sure your security is completely covered and the equipment is installed properly . You shouldn't have to worry about whether or not your security system is functioning properly!

Help Us Eliminate False Alarms

There are many causes of false alarms and many are easy  to avoid. The number one cause of false alarms is user error. Fortunately, this cause is also the easiest to avoid. Instruct your users to contact our dispatch in case of a false alarm and make sure they are on your list of authorized persons. You can always avoid a false police dispatch if you simply contact us. We also have staff available 24 hours a day to assist you if you can't get the system deactivated. Other causes of false alarms include: improperly secured doors and windows, spiders and cobwebs, ceiling fans, balloons and other decorations, etc.... Help us by instructing your employees to look out for these problems and keep your authorized user list current! Call us for a copy of your information.

Keeping You in the Loop

California Safety Company follows up on every false alarm. If you receive a notice regarding a false alarm, we are not trying to pester you! We just want to be sure the people responsible are aware there was an alarm so it can be addressed. The City of Redding imposes an escalating fine starting at $65.00 after your 3rd false alarm police dispatch. We work with our customers on a daily basis to make sure they can avoid these fines. If you have any questions about the city ordinance or if you need help because you think you may be having too many false alarms, call us right away! We are here to help!

DSL And Your Alarm System

DSL has become a popular method for connecting computers to the internet. Since your alarm may use the phone line too, here are two ideas  to make sure they both work properly

When The Lights Go Out

California Safety fire and security systems use rechargeable, emergency backup batteries. When the power goes out, they are on the job  continuing  your  protection. The typical serviceable life of a rechargeable alarm battery is 4 years.

Our popular Vista line of security systems and several other models of monitored alarm systems, automatically test their backup batteries. They can even report to our monitoring center when the batteries need replacing or become low.

If you have a CCTV system, standby power is not usually provided. There are no batteries to replace. Most cameras require lighting before they can record video. Due to this requirement, there is no reason to continue recording when the lights are off.

If you have a CCTV system with a Digital Video Recorder (DVR), you should have a small UPS* powering the DVR. (Small UPS devices may be purchased for less than $100 at many office supply stores.) A small UPS will prevent you from having to reset the DVR due to brief power outages. Since the DVR is also a computing device with a hard drive, a small UPS will allow time to turn off the DVR gracefully during an extended power outage. Additionally, most UPS devices also provide important protection against power surges and lightning.

                 Cable Telephone Service Advisory

If you get telephone service through the cable company, be sure to advise them that you have an alarm system. It is important they know this in order to wire the equipment properly. Also, make sure that you have some sort of battery backup for the system as these systems do not function without power. We recommend you install a UPS that allows you at least 24 hours of backup.

                           Need a Code Changed?

If you need to have a new resident or employee code added to your system, please contact us. In most cases, California Safety Company can add and delete codes from our office. There is a $24 flat rate to add or delete as many codes as your system can handle. If you would like to change the codes yourself from the premise, refer to your user manual or upload your manual at www.californiasafety.com.
